Peace of mind

Colin works very hard helping visitors to Age Concern and has shared with us his personal experience of having an Aid Call pendant, which he has had for over 3 years now.

After losing his partner Colin now lives alone and while he has good health, he does  have to take regular medication. Recently the doctor has changed Colin’s blood pressure tablets. As you do, Colin took his new, prescribed tablets each day but on the third day Colin had a bad reaction. Colin told me that although he wasn’t ill he was aware of not feeling quite right. Normally this would have made him feel vulnerable and at risk, however due to having his “friendly button” Colin felt confident in knowing that should he require help, it was at hand.

Colin's words to us were, “I've never had to press the button, but I've lost count of the number of times I've been really glad that I've got an Aid Call, it is my friend in need and I wouldn't be without it.”

Colin’s story was very interesting because it really conveys what Aid Call is all about, yes Aid Call is there for the emergencies in life but it is also there to give people the peace of mind and confidence to carry on living their independent lives.

We would like to thank Colin very much for sharing his experience of Aid Call and for all the help he has given to the people who have visited Age Concern Wolverhampton. Age Concern Wolverhampton has more than doubled referrals year on year for Aid Call and we have to thank Colin and all the staff at Age Concern Wolverhampton.
